Blaise’s Top 5 Favourite Indie Games of All Time

Rounding off week five of this random idea of mine, Indie September, is a list of my most favourite indie games of all time. I feel like indie devs don’t get as much love as they deserve, so here’s me giving a lotta love to them!

Here are five of my most favourite indie games of all time, in no particular order:

Jenny LeClue – Detectivu: Solving Mysteries, On the Go! (Review, Switch)

I’m just loving these indie games that are coming out and I love that they’re coming out on the Switch even more. Week four of Indie September features Jenny LeClue – Detectivu. This game was put on my radar a few years ago by my dear friend Daniel. Back then it was still in its development stages and had no release date in sight.

Jenny LeClue has been out elsewhere for sometime, but I insisted on waiting for the Switch release of the game before I bought it. I’ve managed to resist the temptation to read the reviews of others… Why? Because the Switch is the best way to game – don’t @ me.

Fires At Midnight: Nostalgia, Drugs, and…Love? (Review)

Keeping up with Indie September is another Malaysian-made game – Fires At Midnight. This game is a recent release by Persona Theory, a Malaysian game dev company.

To be honest, I did see the “request a review copy” button on their website, but one of the biggest problems of the industry is the lack of support. So, I bought my copy. Jia you, let’s go!

No Straight Roads is RADICAL, bro! (Review)

Headlining week two of Indie September is No Straight Roads. I’ve been looking forward to playing this game ever since I heard Wan Hazmer mention it during a conversation I had with him and an old colleague of mine. I got even more excited when I saw the teaser trailer for the game – and now it’s here!

Rock your way through Vinyl City as Mayday and Duke to rid the world of the EDM empire!

Raji: An Ancient Epic Is a Gorgeous, Buggy, Ancient Wonderland (Review)

Welcome to Indie September! Raji: An Ancient Epic. I was immediately drawn to it when watching the latest Nintendo Indie World Direct, and I bought it right away.

An action-adventure with a badass female protagonist wielding magical weapons? Heck yeah – count me in!

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Pulled At My Heartstrings (Review, Switch 2020)

Harvest Moon was the shiz when I was growing up, I played the very first Game Boy version and basically played every handheld iteration afterwards. I loved that game to bits and it’s no wonder that I was immediately drawn to Stardew Valley.

Now reverting back to its original Japanese name, Story of Seasons released on the Switch and PC early in July. I was a little scared to jump into it because of the horrible path Harvest Moon went down…but let’s jump into it anyway.

Paper Mario: The Origami King (Review): MARIO, SMASH!

Growing up, I didn’t own consoles – my mom just didn’t allow it (hi, Ma). My siblings and I shared a massive desktop PC as well as a Game Boy. So, I didn’t experience the hilarity that is the Paper Mario series until my siblings, and I pitched in for a Wii. Because we’re Nintendo lovers

Now, Paper Mario has launched on the Nintendo Switch and boy, am I a happy clam. Let’s see why, shall we?
