Blaise’s Top 5 Favourite Indie Games of All Time

Rounding off week five of this random idea of mine, Indie September, is a list of my most favourite indie games of all time. I feel like indie devs don’t get as much love as they deserve, so here’s me giving a lotta love to them!

Here are five of my most favourite indie games of all time, in no particular order:

Star Wars Episode 1: Racer (Review): IT’S A NEW LAP RECORD

Anyone who knows me would know that I love the universe set a Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Star Wars was the epitome of my childhood – from the movies to the novels to the video games.

And now, one of my all-time favourites has been remastered for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. Is it as good as I remember, though?

#LateToTheParty Game Review: Pokemon Sword and Shield is an absolute banger, mate

I’m considering this a #LateToTheParty post because most people would have finished playing their copy of Pokémon Sword or Shield while here I am…just about finished because I only got my copy of Sword for Christmas.

What’s more perfect than immediately jumping into the Galar region when I’m in the area that inspired it’s creation?

Being a gamer in an increasingly busy world

As you well know, I’m running this blog on my own which is why I’ve decided not to post news-related things here – it’s too much! At the same time, I’m also a freelance photographer and as of writing this piece I’ve got another year to go before I become a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, which I’ve been doing for the last few years as a distance learner.

I feel like as time goes on, it becomes a lot more difficult to do the things that I love to do and I really wish I didn’t have to write this. But shutting my thoughts away doesn’t make it any less true.

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle & the Millionaire’s Conspiracy (Switch, 2019) leaves no mystery or puzzle unsolved…literally

The Layton series played a big part in my schooling years. Little ol’ me and my Nintendo DS, absolutely stoked to have this series in hand. If there was any gaming franchise that kept my mind alight, these were it, thanks to all its puzzles.

There are now seven games in the Layton series. This is also the first to feature a different Layton as it’s protagonist, and a female one at that!

The Complete Noob’s Incomplete Guide to… Smash Bros.

I have to admit: I’ve never played Smash Bros until I got Smash Ultimate the moment I got my Switch. I like to call myself a “fighter” (read: gamer who likes to kick butt in-game via fighting games) and Nintendo-lover but I’ve never once laid my hands on the ever-popular brawler.

A lot of gamers tend to shy away from the unfamiliar, or when they do they blame it on the game and refuse to admit that they may just be a noob at that one game. Smash is a whole new ballgame for me but I’m not afraid to say it: ich bin ein Noob!

Untitled Goose Game Review: HONK HONK beetch

I’ve been looking forward to this game forever, as I’m sure everyone else in the gaming community has. Last week, Melbourne-based House House has finally launched Untitled Goose Game on the same day as Link’s Awakening and this little indie company has topped the charts.

But what’s so great about a game about a goose? Well, let’s find out!

Spyro Reignited (Switch): Nostalgia on the go

Like most 90s-born gamers, Spyro was one of the first ever video games I’ve ever played in my life and when a remaster was announced I couldn’t wait to get it…Until it was only released for the PS4 and Xbox One. And then I had no choice but to wait.

Now its finally out and what do I do? Why, I take my Switch out to the park of course!

#LateToTheParty: So I finally have a Nintendo Switch…

You read that right: I finally have the Nintendo Switch. The hybrid console has been out for about 2 years now and I only now have one… Stop judging me!

I’m currently a bit over 9 weeks in as a fresh Switch-owner and I have many thoughts.
