Tech Review: Xiaomi Mi9 – Beast in a shell?

In the last few months, there’s been a number of launches by the giant that is Xiaomi – from the Mi9T to the MiA3. With the Mi9T Pro launch happening not too long ago, I thought it be interesting to go back and check out the original Mi9 phone.

#LateToTheParty Tech Review: Edifier TWS 1, my first truly wireless earbuds

Ever since Jack left the building (thanks to the launch of the iPhone 7 making it a trend), there was a rise in bluetooth earphones in the market – starting with Apple’s AirPods. I’ve still got my headphone jack on my phone (thankfully) and I’ve not had to suffer through a transition…yet. For the life of me, I can’t comfortably use earphones that are not of the in-ear type. Even headphones are a big problem for me (as mentioned in my Kraken review) and that sucks since I’m rarely found without earphones on. At home, on the plane, in a train – always plugged into music (or a cheeky game).

The kind peoples at Edifier (Malaysia) hooked me up with the TWS 1 and as usual: I’ve got some thoughts.

#LateToTheParty: So I finally have a Nintendo Switch…

You read that right: I finally have the Nintendo Switch. The hybrid console has been out for about 2 years now and I only now have one… Stop judging me!

I’m currently a bit over 9 weeks in as a fresh Switch-owner and I have many thoughts.

#LateToTheParty Tech Review: Razer Kraken Pro V2 Headphones

The Razer Kraken Pro V2 are my very first pair of headphones (yes, ever) and to be honest, it was a risky purchase for me because I might end up spending a load of money on a thing I may never use. Why? Because typically headphones aren’t very friendly to perpetually glasses-wearing folk like me. At least, not the ones that I normally see.

“Why did you buy a pair of Razer headphones?” I hear you ask.

Well, why don’t we find out?

Tech Review: Nokia 3.1 Plus is pretty fly for a budget phone

Anyone remember the start-up jingle? That’s most definitely still a thing and as much as Nokia wants to rebrand themselves, I can’t help but feel some nostalgia as I start up the phone. Sorry, Nokia!

The 3.1 Plus is an update to the 3.1 and is a part of Nokia’s “budget” line of smartphones. For a supposedly budget phone, it seems to be able to pack quite a punch with an amazing battery life and the ability to take great photos. Let’s see if it lives up to expectations, shall we?

Tech Review: Edifier XM6BT Packs a Bass-y Punch

Today, I’ve got the Edifier XM6BT subwoofers. These speakers are pretty old, I’m well aware that they were released in late 2016. They’re still on the market and for subwoofers, they’re quite affordable – with its price tag sitting comfortably below the RM250 mark.

When I first saw the box it came in, my first thoughts were “Oh, these are smaller than I expected!”

And then I turned my music on…

Tech Review: Asus Republic of Gamers Strix XG35VQ Curved Monitor

Full disclosure: I’ve never used a curved monitor in my life. My review here on the ASUS ROG XG35VQ will be less about the hardware technicalities and more about what it feels like to use it, meaning how it fares with everyday work and play.

Because that’s what really matters, doesn’t it?

Spoiler alert: I think curved monitors are pretty cool.

Tech Review: Edifier G4 Gaming Headphones

Today I have the Edifier G4 gaming headset. I know these are pretty old (about a year old now, I think) I thought since I like to talk about affordable gaming gear, that I should write about this too. Although to be honest, I would really consider these to be mid-range rather than “affordable” (I personally class any peripherals below RM200 as affordable).

My only exposure to Edifier’s sound has been with the W570BT headphones that I love to take around with me, especially when I’m traveling. When these landed on my lap, I was rather curious to see how their gaming series fare against the rest of their products.
